Genesis Unveils Gorgeous X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible Concept
Genesis X Gran Coupe & X Gran Convertible
Genesis debuted the stunning concepts at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show in Goyang, Korea. Further elevating the brand.
Genesis clearly has ambitions to move upmarket, and we are taking notice. The brand first launched 10 years ago and has since refined and sharpened itself into a brand with the potential to move into the very exclusive space. Moving upmarket into the space ruled by Aston Martin, Bentley, and Rolls-Royce has been a trend for the past several years as brands such as Jaguar have made announcements that these companies are their new benchmark. But Genesis seems to be doing so without having to make such lofty attempts.
We argue that this all started with the original 2021 X Concept & 2022 X Concept Convertible. Two stunning GT-style vehicles that ooze the kind of class and elegance.

Fast-forward to today and Genesis seems to be putting these concepts into production, basing them on its current flagship, the Genesus G90. Both of these models seem nearly production-ready, and Genesis is hyping them up in a big way. Genesis describes the X Gran Coupe as “the most iconic concept of the Genesis brand. Given its unique typology, which is traditionally the most exclusive and unique body architecture in the luxury segment..” And we could not agree more. It evokes feelings of the Bentley Brooklands Coupe and Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe. Two big body styles we have not seen for over a decade and are desperately craving.

Evolved Front End
The facia of the two concepts highlights Genesis’ growth over the past 10 years as it finally feels refined and unique to the brand. It is highlighted by the brand’s signature Two-Line headlights, which extend to the 3D grill, which features a unique beak-like shape and diamond-shaped Two-Line pattern. It's a very cool and unique take on the signature grills of the British GTs we know and love. Furthering this motive are the elongated hoods that create a striking silhouette and the Two-Line headlights extending to the fenders to increase the track width visually.

Audacious Silhouettes
Both models feature more steeply raked windscreens, lower roof heights, elongated doors, frameless windows, and widened fenders. The results are sumptuous and create striking silhouettes. We particularly love the ¾ shot and the sculpted “hips” of the convertible with the strong fender profile. For the X Gran Coupe Concept, the roof and cant rail have both been visually interrogated to give the cabin the shape of a sportscar. In contrast, the X Gran Convertible Concept’s beltline has been extended further back to divide the body from the soft-top roof.

Interior Inspired by Meditteranean Olives & Cabernet Sauvignon
The X Gran Coupe’s interior takes inspiration from Mediterranean olive trees that feature sumptuous green and saddle leather combined with olive wood veneer that is microperforated to create olive-themed ambient lighting. The leather itself uses naturally tanned materials using wastewater from Italian olive production and is 100% chrome-free.
2025 Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept
The X Gran Convertible Concept takes its inspiration from the spirit of fine wines. It features a bold color of pressed grapes for the exterior and rich, deep hues of Cabernet Sauvignon from the grapes of the Livorno region of Italy.

Genesis has come a long way in the last decade. However, the time and investment in this brand have worked, and these nearly production-ready concepts are proof. We genuinely hope they come to production, as the industry dearly misses these body styles. But beyond the designs, the storytelling and craftmanship of these vehicles deserve to be celebrated. So few brands are crafting automobiles like this anymore. If this is the quality, design, and storytelling we are getting from Genesis, we could see a world where they compete with the British Big Three if they pair their lineup to include only the G90, G90 Coupe, and Convertible, and the GV80.
